THERAPY

For centuries hypnosis has been used in a therapeutic way but until the development of psychology it was only used for symptom removal and suppression. Once psychotherapy developed, from its analytical roots through behavioural and cognitive theories it started to look for and treat the cause of the symptoms, It was soon realised that there was a great advantage in applying most of these therapies with the client in a state of trance. Therapy applied in trance tends to be faster acting and more effective because it is reaching the part of the mind that is responsible for our general well-being and the way we behave, the unconscious mind. In the fully wide-awake state, psychotherapy can take many sessions to be effective but in the trance state relatively few are needed. Some, for habit breaking such as smoking, can usually be accomplished in one session. A good therapist should be well trained in most areas of psychology as well as other therapeutic disciplines and protocols.

My approach to therapy
My approach to hypnosis and to therapy tends to be eclectic making use of different styles, approaches and disciplines. This allows me to practice client centred therapy where the treatment is tailored to the individual. No two people are exactly alike and what works for one does not necessarily work for others.
